Aerial Yoga Teacher Training (50 hours)
Our 50-hour Aerial Yoga Teacher Training is designed to equip you with the essential skills required to lead safe and engaging aerial yoga classes. With expert guidance from Earth & Aerial Yoga founders, Katharine Scalora, E-RYT, and Lora Markova, E-RYT, this program provides a comprehensive approach to teaching aerial yoga at various skill levels, so you can confidently share the benefits of aerial yoga with your future students.
Program Overview
Our aerial yoga teacher training prioritizes safety through clear, concise cueing and careful observation of students throughout each class. We break down every aerial yoga pose into manageable steps, guiding you on safe entries and exits, correcting misalignments, and incorporating modifications or advancements as needed.
Focus on Mindfulness & Yoga Principles
Our aerial yoga teacher training is grounded in traditional yoga principles that emphasize breath, mindful movement, and body awareness. Unlike circus arts, this program prioritizes inner focus and the mind-body connection over performance or aerial tricks. We will teach you to guide students in safely exploring their physical boundaries while keeping them connected to breath, alignment, and sensation. This approach fosters both strength and mindfulness, allowing students to leave each session feeling accomplished, empowered, and recharged.
Practice Teaching Experience
After mastering the fundamentals, you’ll practice your teaching skills with real beginner students, solidifying your knowledge and building your confidence in leading safe and engaging aerial yoga classes. You’ll learn how to guide and challenge your students gradually, supporting them as they discover strengths and skills they never knew they had.
Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits
Earth & Aerial Yoga is a recognized Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), and our 50-hour Aerial Yoga Teacher Training program qualifies for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Requirements. Meet the Trainers!
Katharine Scalora
Earth & Aerial Yoga Co-Founder & Managing Director | E-RYT 200
Katharine Scalora is the co-founder and Managing Director of Earth & Aerial Yoga and the visionary creator of the Earth & Aerial Yoga Teacher Training program. Over the past decade, she has led thousands of traditional and aerial yoga classes. Since 2018, she has trained and mentored dozens of aerial yoga instructors, 15 of whom currently teach at our studio.
Katharine’s journey with yoga began in 1999 as a student, and her enthusiasm for both traditional and aerial yoga has only grown through continuous study and new research. She is dedicated to lifelong learning and has studied extensively with leaders in yoga, biomechanics, and strength training, including Jules Mitchell, Katherine Bruni-Young, and Jacqui Bonwell. While she finds joy in leading aerial yoga classes, her true passion lies in training others to become skilled aerial yoga instructors.
Katharine’s teaching style emphasizes a safe, mindful experience through precise cueing and careful observation. She encourages her students to embrace playfulness and curiosity while pushing themselves physically and mentally, preparing them to deliver exceptional experiences to their future students. Under her expert guidance, you’ll develop and refine your teaching skills both during and beyond the formal training hours.
Lora Markova
Earth & Aerial Yoga Co-Founder & Creative Director | E-RYT 200
Lora Markova is the co-founder and Creative Director of Earth & Aerial Yoga. She has practiced traditional yoga worldwide for more than 25 years and has led well over a thousand yoga and aerial yoga classes in Massachusetts in the past decade. She earned her 200-hour yoga teacher certification in Sri Lanka, training under Yoga Arts and Rose Baudin.
Lora discovered aerial yoga in 2016, and it quickly became central to her vision for a unique yoga studio. She met Katharine Scalora in 2018, becoming one of Katharine’s first aerial yoga teacher training alums. Together, driven by a shared passion for the profound physical and psychological benefits of aerial yoga, they co-founded Earth & Aerial Yoga.
In her classes, Lora focuses on using deep, full breaths to flow seamlessly from pose to pose, while stretching, strengthening, and opening the entire body. While her classes are slow and strong, Lora offers her students a range of options, so they can move at their own flexibility and ability levels. She uses extensive cuing and subtle hands-on adjustments to enhance her students’ practice, fostering heightened physical and emotional awareness. Her aim is for each student to leave feeling reenergized, rejuvenated, reconnected, and refocused.
As part of the Aerial Yoga Teacher Training program, Lora leads sessions on essential skills such as precise cuing, proper alignment, and teaching techniques, equipping trainees with the knowledge they need to thrive as aerial yoga instructors.
